Last night I had the thrill of my life at The Fabulous Fox Theatre it involved Disney’s Lion King and a date night with daddy. I got tickets to attend the Tony Award Winning stage play and decided to see the story with the guy I saw the movie with in 1994 my daddy.
We arrived early and discovered that our tickets were in the center of the theater and very close to the stage. The more than 40 member cast brought the story to life in DISNEY grandeur and style. The Fox Theater turned into an African savannah with Pride Rock being the focal point of the evening. Initially I thought the play would just include singing, dancing, and the actors in nice costumes and face paint. BOY WAS I WRONG!
The opening scene included larger than life animals walking down the aisles singing, dancing, and paying tribute to the new baby cub Simba. I found myself being a little girl screaming “WOW!” in my head as the larger than life puppets made their way to the stage. The artistry of the puppets, costumes, and performances were amazing. The actors that took on the staring roles brought their cartoon predecessors to life with the same charm and fun that makes them life long friends.
I felt like a little girl as I enjoyed my coca cola, ate my popcorn, insisted on buying a program, and enjoyed sitting on the edge of my seat as the Disney film came to life not only on stage but around me as the play was very interactive.
As a single girl with no kids I sometimes feel like I can’t enjoy FUN stuff like Disney, the Zoo, the Park, and other things that seem to be exclusive to women with children. I JOKE a lot about that because I love stuff like this (I still watch cartoons). After having the time of my life last at Atlanta’s Pride Rock within the Fabulous Fox Theater; I decided that this year I will stop using being single with no kids as a reason not to do things like going to the zoo or picking apples in the Fall!
If you are in Atlanta you should definitely try to get tickets to see The Lion King this season.
Secure your tickets today by visiting Broadway in Atlanta.
Special thanks to Brave PR & Broadway in Atlanta for the invitation!
