I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with famed Comedian Pierre who is just a bundle of laughs and funny antidotes about life, dating, comedy, and fun. I am typically nervous before starting an interview but Pierre quickly put me at ease by telling me a story about the perils of internet dating. After chatting with him I now look at people a little closer on Instagram.
Pierre is a veteran in the comedy arena he stared in the first year of HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and that led to a stint with BET’s Comicview. He instantly became a crowd favorite as he journeyed into the realm of television comedy that included Showtime at Apollo, Martin Lawrence Presents and the late night tv circuit. When asked who inspired him as a comedian he shares,
My daddy was funny. I watched him with his friends. He always had a funny retort. Also being from Germany and moving to the hood of DC; I had to learn how to defend myself and basically talk ISH. I performed at an open mic show in high school and the rest is history.
Pierre became a favorite during the 90’s black movie revival he was seen in some of our favorite movies from that era. I am sure you remember seeing him star alongside Halle Berry as her boyfriend in B.A.P’s where he was so funny. He also starred opposite of Bill Bellamy in How to be a Player. Then he stared opposite of comedic legend Leslie Nelsen as his partner in 2001: A Space Travesty. After a few small roles in The Wash with Eminem and Dr Dre and The Breaks. Then he stepped out on his own, where he wrote, produced, directed and starred in the theatrical released urban classic For Da Love of Money, which has recently been airing on BET and the Bounce network.
After an amazing career in Hollywood; Pierre decided to walk away from it all and just live life and pen a memorable memoir of his encounters with some of our favorite celebrities called “My 100 Homies and Phonies of Hollywood”. Pierre shared the motivation behind the memoir,
Everybody wants to know how it was to work with the big celebrities; so I decided to tell my story.
After taking time out he’s back; ready to rock and roll and he’s making a splash on Youtube with his hilarious web series Dating Pierre. Coined as an outrageous episode from the web series yo mother warned you about Dating Pierre. When asked if Dating Pierre is based on his life connecting with the pretty ladies, Pierre had the following to say,
Dating Pierre is just suggest of experiences and slightly hilarious visions of what could happen. It is my favorite and true to who I am as a person. I loved how Martin Lawrence and Chris Tucker had the ability to say whatever they wanted. I was always censored because the projects I worked on belonged to someone else. The few times I got the chance to ad lib they were truly memorable. With Dating Pierre I have the ability to be ME and I love it! You will too!
In addition to comedy shows, Dating Pierre, he has added movie directing to his resume. He has created a horror/comedy trilogy films “SLICE 1, 2 & 3” to be released in 2015. In Pierre’s words SLICE is what would happen if black people were given the opportunity to shine in horror movies; according to him it would be pretty funny.
Pierre’s first love is the comedy club stage, where you can catch him headlining the Improv (Dallas, Houston) , Carolines (NYC), the FunnyBone (Shreveport La, Boise Id, (Vicksburg, Ms) and many more.
He has performed for the troops, also he’s performed in comedy festivals as far away as Japan, South Africa, Germany, Amsterdam, England, etc.
