Dayna Edmonds, known around the city as Dayna Denise, is one of Atlanta’s hottest up and coming nail tech! Only 23 years old and she has “painted the hands” of so many notable clients.
Dayna hails from the one of the country’s roughest cities, Detroit, but did not let that break her. Dayna Denise shares,
“Where I’m from no one is doing anything! No aspirations…nothing beyond the block, and I didn’t want to be that!”
She admits that the people back home are the reason why she wants to do good; they inspire her! Danya Denise is all about beauty and nails. “I’ve been painting nails for nine years…since I was 13! Talk about child labor laws,” she jokingly admits. “Plus, I just wanted to draw, and I did not like the way the local nail shops did things; therefore I learned myself.”
Once Dayna realized that she had a real skill, she started practicing on close families and friends. Eventually, an opportunity to draw and save money turned into her dream career. Besides crafting her painting skills, Dayna knows that presenting customers with quality is extremely important!
“I follow protocol and don’t take short cuts. Also, I use quality products. It costs more, but many shops like quantity over quality, and it shows on the customers’ nails.”
What is gaining Dayna the most notoriety are her designs. Her trick is making everyone’s design (individually) for them. She also does NOT believe in duplicating designs; it’s a sin.
“I love when a client shows me a design that I can actually paint! Everything is with the stroke of the brush.”
So, who are some famous hands she has worked on? Her list consists of reality TV star, singers, and it is only expanding!
“I have worked on Bambi (“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta), Atlanta Socailite Chanita Foster, R&B Singer/Reality Star K. Michelle, and Porsha Williams (“Real Housewives of Atlanta”) just to name a few. One of my biggest accomplishments was being able to work on Jennifer Lopez on the set of her latest movie “The Boy Next Door.”
Danya’s overall dream is to become an industry leader in nails. She wants to educate others and be the “go-to person” when it comes to nails.
