Welcome to the 100 Club.
The nation’s captiol was full of Crimson and Cream over the weekend as Delta Sigma Theta celebrated their Centennial Convention. What an awesome achievement to reach 100 years of excellence in EDUCATION, COMMUNITY, and SISTERHOOD. It’s been an amazing weekend for the ladies of DST. Much of the excitement includes the induction of award-winning actress Angela Basset and former Editor-In-Chief of Essence Magazine Susan L. Taylor!
Delta Sigma Theta is a not-for profit Greek-lettered sorority of college-educated women who perform public service and place emphasis on the African-American community. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women on the campus of Howard University. The founding members of Delta Sigma Theta wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need. The organization was involved in the Women’s Suffrage Movement 100 years ago. The ladies of Delta Sigma Theta are still making a lasting impact on the world through public service and education.
Other famous Deltas include: Keshia Knight Pulliam, Nikki Giovanni, Soledad O’Brien, Betty Shabazz, Lena Horne, Shirley Chisolm and Cicely Tyson.
Sending out an ear-piercing SKEEEEEEE-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP to the lovely ladies of DST!
