The event was full of celebrity sightings, good food, and tasty drinks. The highlight of the event was the special showing of The Rickey Smiley Show followed by a panel discussion by the entire cast. I was thrilled to see some of my favorite celebrities including Jay Anthony Brown of the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Chilli from TLC and Dr. Alduan Tartt of TvOne’s Love Addiction. After seeing Dr. Tartt we have decided we got to get together and make some magic in the very near future. I’m full of smiles :).
I also learned alot about TvOne’s CEO Wonya Lucas . Ms. Lucas is an Atlanta girl just like me! Each representative of TvOne spoke about combating the negative images of African-Americans in the media. Famous producer Roger Bobb told the captivated audience that we have the power to change the world’s perception of African-Americans. He stated that we have to support wholesome television and more opportunities like the Rickey Smiley Show will be available for mass consumption. The Rickey Smiley Show is centered around family values that seem to be absent from today’s popular culture. I grew up in the Cosby era; it is refreshing to see positive images of African-Americans in the media. As I sat in the beautiful Buckhead Theater last night surrounded by some of my favorite people I found myself saying a silent prayer that this wholesome television show succeed!
Do you plan on watching THE RICKEY SMILEY SHOW TONIGHT?
