I had the pleasure of attending Atlanta’s #MacysEvents at Lenox Square Mall hosted by the prettiful super model Emme. Emme is a ball of information as it relates to fashion and trends in women apparel. The days of dumpy plus size clothing is a distant memory; thanks to pioneers like Emme and brands recognizing that every girl deserves fashionable pieces.
Some of my favorite designers are finally jumping into the arena of plus size fashion and the clothes are AMAZING! The days of mumus and granny looking clothes are over. There’s Michael Kors jackets, Calvin Klein dresses, and Macy’s INC seperates that will make any girl excited about a shopping excursion for Fall 2014!
Emme entertained the audience with trivia about herself and fashion. I learned that the fashion icon has been in business since 1989. Dressed in a leopard jumpsuit she charmed the audience with her grace and witty personality. I was over the moon with excitement because I remember reading about her in my favorite fashion magazines. She shared that she believe that women should be able to look and feel good no matter their size. For such a long time women were limited to their fashion choices if they were outside of the straight sizes.
Personally I have always battled my weight. It’s like a fight to stay in the straight styles. You know one gym session away from being on the heavy side of straight sizes or one piece of chicken and kool aid on the slim side of plus size. I hate how some brands exclude women with a little extra booby or a bit of hips. I am so excited to see brands embrace all types of women. Every girl deserves the opportunity to shop at the hottest stores and rock the most fashionable trends of the day.
I also had the opportunity to cheer on two of my friends Joyce Brewer of Mommy Talk Show and Beauty Queen Chakiva Latrell of Spoiled Diva as they modeled gorgeous pieces from Macy’s Fall Collection. Joyce’s little boy AJ even made his way to the stage it was such a sweet moment. A girl can truly have it all and do it looking pretty!
I even got the chance to meet Emme and take a picture.
I am still smiling about meeting her and telling her that I admire her work in fashion. It’s so amazing to be in a position to meet influential women who are making a difference in the lives of women and girls. Emme opened doors for women to jump into modeling and to feel good in their skin.
Check out the fun we had below.
