Going the EXTRA MILE

God has a way of getting my attention. I am Type A PERSONALITY  to the 10th power. If I can do it; it’s DONE. If I can FIX IT;  it’s done. I run at sprint speed with most things in my life. I am that person who’s always doing. I am always pursuing the proverbial “IT”. I feel extreme discomfort when I can’t DO or if I am not moving fast enough.

Lately I feel like God has tied my hands behind my back and has placed me in TIME OUT.  I feel like throwing a temper tantrum or manipulating my desires verbally to those standing around me with free hands. There’s so much that I want to do. There’s so much that I need to do. If I can just untie my hands I can get it all done and maybe a little more.

But as I stand in the corner I realize that GOD is handling my business on my behalf. I am making strides without working myself into the ground. I am able to walk away and things not fall apart; actually things seems Exceptionally Well! I do believe that true SUCCESS is found in going the extra mile. But as I stand in TIME OUT with my hands tied up; I realize that there’s nothing wrong with clocking out mentally and physically at times.

I feel extreme GUILT for not maximizing all the time that I have; but I realized that GOD knows my heart. God knows that I am not a lazy bum and that he will pick up the slack to make sure my desires come to fruition! As I stand with my hands tied up I am thankful to learn this lesson. I hope to remember this once my hands become untied and I get back into sprint mode!

Moral of the Story: I don’t have to give all of ME away! Who knew? I can actually WIN by not going the “extra, extra, EXTRA” mile. I can take a (small) break from the grind!

    This post was is sooo needed!!!!! Sometimes I literally beat myself up if I can’t make an event or do something for someone else! Sometimes, we have to reevaluate ourselves & take a step back if it’s meant to be it will be.

      That is so true. I feel like I AM ALWAYS ON. It has always been like this. I want to learn how to enjopy the moment and not always be in work mode. That makes a girl so dull :)

    Even God rested on the 7th day. He admired his work and said that it was good. Maybe he just wants you to do the same….and then get back to WERK!

    Oh I feel you! I am typically type A, but due to a challenging pregnancy I have had to give up a lot of my “I can do it” attitude and trust my husband, mom and others to support me. I think this is a gift from God to remind me to lean on Him (and the people he uses)… because at the end of the day, I can’t do anything without him…..
