Mikki Taylor : Girl Talk with an icon…
“This is your one and only life. It is not a dress rehearsal. You do not get to come back and do it again.”
We had the immense pleasure of listening to Mikki Taylor talk about style, grace, rocking your best and so much more. With a smile and aura that literally lit up the entire room, she gave us tips, social commentary, sisterly advice, and so much more. She talked about being a “Commander in Chic”, while serving us LIFE, in true diva style.
Know your value- Your perception of who you are has a direct influence on how you carry yourself. “You are original. There is only one you.” Everyone can’t be on the front row of your life. Some enter your life with the exit ticket already in hand. You can’t let these people lower your value of yourself.
Celebrate your unique style- Define your wardrobe with a distinct point of view. “We are more than a season of someone else’s style whims.” Labels and season don’t define YOU! These labels are not more important than the label that the creator put on you. Style is being able to wear what you love again and again.
Hair & Makeup- “Tress for success.” Condition and manage your hair. Include stress-free styles in your repertoire. Keep makeup simple. You should look like a better version of yourself and not someone else when wearing makeup. Makeup is a complement to your natural beauty and not a cover-up.
Honor your natural purpose- Find that gift that you are so good at you could do it in your sleep and would do it for free. Utilize your natural gifts. Make someday today. Use your gift and the money will come. “God doesn’t leave you hanging.” Always identify and recognize what you’ve been called to do.
Make time for you- “If someone says your self-centered, say thank you.” Time for self is non-negotiable. Don’t make time for drama and other people’s emotional baggage in your sacred space. Live like there is no tomorrow. Direct your life on the path of where you want to go.
While making time for you, still remember that a “Commander in Chic” cannot do it alone. Make sure your circle pushes you to be a better you. In addition, remember that the best relationships are reciprocal, so always give back what you are given.
