Growing up I never really got the chance to dress up for Halloween. We had our store costumes and loads of candy from grandmamma those are my Halloween memories. As an adult I learned that Halloween is the one holiday that gives a girl a chance to show off her “FRISKIER” side her “FUN” side. Halloween is a holiday that allows a girl to embrace her inner Anna Steel without society judging her too harshly. I love the freedom that Halloween gives us big kids at heart. We get a chance to show our creativity even if it’s just for one day/weekend (if you party a lot).
Halloween for some reason always make me feel nostalgic! It’s a great time to reflect on style and fashion. As a girl who enjoys fashion, beauty and style I love Halloween. I get a chance to slow down and reflect on the iconic styles of the Ghosts of Fashion’s Past. There are so many styles to choose from for Halloween. Most of these styles can make a home in our everyday wardrobes.
Below I have listed some of my favorite styles from the Ghosts of Fashion’s Past. These looks are cool for Halloween and even better for everyday fashion.
I love the glamour of the 1920’s and 1930’s. The flapper is one of my favorite eras in history and fashion. The pretty dresses and the suits make me channel my inner flapper all the time.
I also love the fun and sophistication of the cool girls from Sex in the City. I love each girl’s style and the personality they brought to fashion.
As a 90’s baby I absolutely adore hip hop. I still rock Outkast like it’s 1995. I still get misty eyed when I think of Tupac and I love, love, love TLC!
As I look back over some of my past Halloween Styling Choices and one of my favorite photo shoots I realize that a girl can have fun on Halloween. A girl can have fun everyday when it comes to fashion.
My inner flapper chooses pretty dresses and stylish heels for most occasions. She loves looking at men in stylish suits. She even motivated me to bob my hair!
I love the freedom that the girls from Sex and the City exhibited through their fashion choices. I read fashion blogs and try with the help of my stylish friends try to step out of my plain girl style box. I am every bit of a Charlotte with Miranda like tendencies. I would love to be a Carrie.; maybe one day!
I absolutely adore the girls of TLC. Growing up I wanted to be cool like T-BOZ; I had her hair cut and everything. I am more like Left-Eye (real wild, funny, and crazy). RIP Lisa Lopes! I still own a pair of white classic Reebok and I own those boxer shorts and pink durags in the above pictures. Halloween is definitely a time for fashion and fun!
How did you style yourself this Halloween? Do you have some favorite eras of fashion and if so what are they?
