I decided that I want to share more of me on this blog. I love politics. I love books. I love people. I look for motivation on a daily basis. I am reading a lot of self-help books. I am on a quest to become a better blogger, a better business woman, and a better ME! I LOVE to read about women who are doing dynamic things in the world and in business. I decided to share a piece of me each week under the Pretty Nerdy Series.
Today’s Pretty Nerdy installment is a book review on “The Martha Rules: 10 Essentials for Achieving Success as You Start, Build, or Manage a Business”.
This book is definitely a great read for people interested in entrepreneurship. Martha Stewart uses her personal experiences in business to craft an astonishing book for people interested in starting a business. I learned a lot about Martha Stewart. She was a model, a real estate agent, and a caterer before she became “THE MARTHA STEWART”. She used her trials and tribulations in the media to help craft a dynamic story of how to persevere under pressure and win.
This book is full of nuggets of wisdom and inspiration. Martha made a point to tell the reader that a person find motivation from anyone who’s making moves. I am a blogger/writer/event planner/philanthropist/politician and I can look to people outside of these genres for advice. I look around my circle of associates and friends and there are so many people doing their thing in their chosen career paths. One of my closest friends is a real estate mogul. She gives me advice for my business and I give her advice on her business. Martha Stewart let the reader know that having a positive mind-set an a little motivation is a great way to win in business and in life. I never really looked at myself as a domestic chick but after reading Martha Stewart’s book; I have adopted Martha as a mentor from afar.
This book came from a thrift store in Atlanta; the best $2.00 I have spent in a long time. I plan on re-reading some of the points she made within the business guide. She mentioned that a business person must look for inspiration daily. She suggested looking for people you admire and study them profusely. I love Kimora Lee Simmons and I read “Fabulosity” often for pretty tips to share on our various social media platforms.
Are you interested in business or need a little motivation for your business or inspiration for life? If you answer yes; I highly recommend you check out Martha Stewart’s business guide.
Have you read a good book lately? Can you recommend a good read for a girl on a quest to self empowerment?
I hope you like my first Pretty Nerdy installment. If you can think of anything that I should cover; I would love to hear from you!
